Summer and culture-differences, both has taken me with a BANG and a BOOM.
Ok.. long time no blogg. Finally I got the time to struggle with this internet, and put in a few words. And even a few pictures. JMy life in Rundu goes by, I’m struggling my own struggles. Aiysh… I’m so… not patient. I thought I’d gotten better, but the last week I figured I haven’t! K I guess I had some kind of culture-shock last week. I’m not used to lick peoples back to get what I want, I never had and I thought I never would…. But if I’m going to fit into the African culture in Namibia I guess I will have to swallow my pride -and lick… K
Norwegian white, blond girl working with women-soccer- not a good combination. Not in this world. I should have been a big black guy working with men-soccer--- it would have been so much easier. But I guess I would just have to look at it as a challenge and move on. Move on, and calm down. I’m not here to fight all the fights. I’m not here to change Rundu or change the people here. I’m only here to help out where I am needed. If I actually makes a different - I would just have to look at it as a BONUS at the end of the year. K that’s the story of our lifes.
Rundu is still good though. It’s starting to get HOT. In the middle of the day it’s boiling, and all you want to do is to dig a big hole and jump in! But I’m not complaining. If I could choose Norway in November or Namibia in November I would defiantly choose Namibia. (Except from the Cobra-snakes that is going to live in my garden over the summer… I would put them on the first plane to Norway if I could…) The schools are great, and I’m starting getting jused to get up around 6am. NO PROBLEMO. I actually even get up 7am in the weekends, that have to be called IMPROVEMENT?!!! (those who knows me- know I like to zzzzleeeeep in the weekends!)
Vumisa and Raymond - Mr Mayisela and Mr Freeze (-ooops, don’t know how to write this name..),are the two people at the head-office for SCORE-Namibia. Friday they were here to check out if I’m doing anything while I’m here. I don’t know what they found out. I think all they found was a small little girl in kind of a culture shock, who finally had somebody to talk to about all her concerns and frustrations. I think I forgot to tell them the good things, but It was good to have them here. If I could be only 1/10 as calm as Vumisa (Mr. Mayisela) is, I would have been a much better and more happy person….! Aysh.. wish there was a cure…
I miss the simple life in Norway, but right now I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. This is my way of learning. I learn A LOT about myself, and I learn A LOT about the African culture and the people here. Ok, I might struggle now and then, but here they use the expression: “what doesn’t kill you- can only make you stronger”. So I’m hoping to be a stronger person after this year. (And just let it be said: I’m not even close to get killed… as long as the Black Mamba and the Cobra stays away from my face….)
My English has gotten… I don’t know. Better or worse. Better I suppose. I realised that my English is.. poor. I worked in California for one year, but working with a 3-year old girl for one year doesn’t give you an advanced language, It’s simple - Easy as that.
Now I have my simple English pronounced with cleaR R’s.. In a good old fascion AfRican way of pRonouncing them. gReat. J I’m just hoping to get a few new words in soon, so I don’t sound like a… 3-year old….
